Director The Newark Museum of Art | Newark, New Jersey The Newark Museum of Art has selected Lisa Funderburke Hoffman as the next Director and CEO. She will assume her role on February 2.Ms. Funderburke Hoffman will join the Newark Museum of Art from Artist Communities Alliance, an international service organization for artist residencies, where she has served as president and chief executive officer since 2016. Prior to leading Artist Communities Alliance, she was associate director of the McColl Center in Charlotte, NC, and, before that, led the Charlotte Museum of Nature. Her record of success increasing engagement and philanthropy--and her vision and energy--were cited by the search committee in making its selection. As director and CEO of the Newark Art Museum, Ms. Funderburke Hoffman will lead New Jersey’s biggest museum, with 153 employees and a global collection ranked 12th largest nationally with more than 300,000 objects and strengths in Tibetan and Native American art.Ms. Funderburke Hoffman holds an MS in biology and a BS in botany, both from Howard University.Anita Tien and Ben Tobin led this search with Ryan Leichenauer, supported by Christina Errico.
