Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications

Penn State has appointed Sarah Fasano as an Assistant Vice President in the Office of Strategic Communications. She will begin in her new role on September 28, 2026.

Fasano has more than two decades of experience in corporate affairs, reputation management, issues and crisis communications, employee communications, and organizational change. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Issues Management and Corporate Reputation at Liberty Mutual Insurance and has held communications leadership roles with ITT Inc., L'Oréal, Wrigley, and Ketchum. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation as a thoughtful strategist, collaborative leader, and trusted advisor who helps complex organizations navigate change while strengthening culture and reputation.

Fasano possesses the combination of strategic vision, leadership experience, sound judgment, and people-centered approach that this important role demands. Her expertise in internal communications, change management, employee engagement, and issues management aligns exceptionally well with the priorities of the Office of Strategic Communications and Penn State overall.

Fasano is a third-generation alum of Penn State; she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with a minor in Business.
