President and Chief Executive Officer

We are pleased to announce that Reconstructing Judaism has appointed Rabbi Elliott Tepperman as its next President and Chief Executive Officer.

Rabbi Tepperman comes to this role with decades of service to the Reconstructionist movement, including 24 years as the spiritual leader of Bnai Keshet, in Montclair New Jersey, after graduating from Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2002. He is a rabbi, teacher, and community builder, and has deep engagement with Reconstructionist values and practice.

He served as President of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association and is a past President of the Montclair Interfaith Clergy Association. A founding member of the IAF-affiliated New Jersey Together, as well as the Montclair Sanctuary Alliance and Faith in Action of Essex County, his work has focused on building multi-faith coalitions for social change. In 2019, he received the Rabbinic Human Rights Hero Award from T’ruah, the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights. He currently serves on the JOIN for Justice Board and is Co-Chair of the J Street Rabbinic and Cantorial Cabinet.
