Dean and Director University of Chicago Laboratory Schools | Chicago, Illinois Following a national search, Isaacson, Miller is pleased to announce that the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools has appointed Scott Fech, PhD as the next dean and director of schools, effective January 2027.Dr. Fech is currently the head of school at Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh, and brings two decades of leadership experience in independent and university-affiliated schools to this role. Since 2018, he has led strategic planning, campus expansion, and initiatives to strengthen academic excellence, faculty development, and student well-being.This new role is an opportunity for Dr. Fech to return to the Lab Schools’ distinctive community and mission, as he formerly served as high school principal and director of educational programs. As dean and director, he will build on the important efforts of the past year, further strengthening the partnership between the University and the Laboratory Schools, deepening collaboration across the leadership teams more broadly, and advancing the shared values that underpin their work.As an undergraduate, Dr. Fech studied education and French at Indiana University before earning a Master's Degree in Education from Purdue and a PhD in Educational Administration and Supervision from Loyola University.
