Vice Chair for Education & Residency Program Director, Department of Internal Medicine University of Michigan Medical School | Ann Arbor, Michigan The University of Michigan Medical School Department of Internal Medicine has selected Dr. Jakob McSparron, MD, and Dr. Sarah Hartley, MD, MPHE as Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director, respectively.Dr. Jakob McSparron currently serves as a Clinical Professor, Fellowship Program Director and Associate Director for the Critical Care Medicine unit within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. McSparron earned his MD from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.As Vice Chair for Education with the Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. McSparron will oversee the department’s educational mission across Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education and lead the development of a long-term strategic vision to ensure the internal medicine department remains responsive to trends and innovations in medical education.Dr. Sarah Hartley is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine with clinical appointments at both the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor VA Hospital. Dr. Hartley also serves as Assistant Director of the Doctoring Course in the Medical School. Dr. Hartley earned her MD from Wayne State University and her MPHE from the University of Michigan and completed her clinical training at Detroit Medical Center.Dr. Hartley has served as the Interim Residency Program Director since last summer and has previously served as Assistant Director and Associate Director.
