Provost University of New Mexico | Albuquerque, New Mexico We are pleased to announce that the University of New Mexico (UNM) has selected Dr. Barbara Rodriguez to serve as its next Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.Dr. Rodriguez has served as interim Provost since July 2025 and previously served as Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. A UNM faculty member since 1999 and a professor of speech and hearing sciences, she has held numerous academic leadership roles and is widely recognized for her scholarship in bilingual language development and cultural competence. Dr. Rodriguez is a native of Española, New Mexico, and brings deep roots in the state and a longstanding commitment to advancing UNM's mission. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of New Mexico, and her Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington — returning to her alma mater as a tenure-track faculty member after completing her doctorate.As Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Rodriguez will serve as UNM's Chief Academic Officer, overseeing academic programs, faculty affairs, research, and student success.Julie Filizetti and Joe Kralick led this search with Andrew Marshall and Gabi Nayar.
