Kohi, MD has been named chair of the Department of Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC, effective Oct. 12, 2026.Dr. Kohi joins Pitt and UPMC from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she serves as the Ernest H. Wood Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Radiology as well as system executive medical director of enterprise imaging and clinical transformation executive for UNC Health. Since assuming departmental leadership in 2020, she has driven substantial growth across clinical care, research, education and enterprise imaging. Under her leadership, UNC Radiology expanded its clinical footprint, faculty and revenue; extended imaging services across the health system; and more than doubled extramural research funding, elevating the department to the highest-ranked radiology program in North Carolina and among the nation's top public radiology departments in National Institutes of Health (NIH) rankings. Most recently, she co-founded the Consortium for Innovative Imaging and Interventions, a multidisciplinary initiative advancing imaging, artificial intelligence engineering and image-guided therapies. Prior to UNC, Dr. Kohi served as chief of interventional radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, where she previously completed her diagnostic radiology residency, NIH T32 research fellowship, and additional fellowships in both vascular and interventional radiology and women's imaging before joining the faculty.An internationally renowned interventional radiologist and clinical trialist, Dr. Kohi is widely recognized for advancing precision medicine through innovations in imaging, artificial intelligence and minimally invasive therapies, with a particular focus on improving women's health.
