Dean University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Nursing | Knoxville, Tennessee The University of Tennessee, Knoxville has named Dr. Vinciya Pandian as dean of the College of Nursing, effective July 1. Pandian will hold the Lisa and Greg Reed Endowed Dean’s Chair and will also serve as associate senior vice president for nursing academic-practice partnerships at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Pandian comes to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from the Pennsylvania State University, where she has served as Associate Dean for Graduate Education since 2024. She holds faculty appointments as Professor of Nursing at the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and a joint appointment with the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Penn State College of Medicine. A distinguished scholar, Pandian is internationally renowned for her research and leadership in critical care, focusing on patient safety and tracheostomy care. Pandian’s research extends globally, with collaborative projects in Nigeria, India, and Portugal. She holds leadership positions including President of the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative, Past President of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Nurses, Vice-President of the Baltimore Chapter Society of Critical Care Medicine, Research Committee Chair of National Association of Indian Nurses of America, and American Nurses Association Nominations and Elections Committee member. Pandian earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing and midwifery from the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. She earned a Master of Science in nursing, acute care nurse practitioner, and a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.
