President Vermont Law and Graduate School | South Royalton, Vermont The Board of Trustees of the Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) has selected Melissa Hoffer as the institution’s next President commencing on December 1, 2026.Hoffer joins VLGS from her position as the first-ever climate chief for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She was a former appointee in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Biden administration, serving as EPA’s acting general counsel and principal deputy general counsel.Hoffer received a juris doctor from Northeastern University School of Law, a master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College.Tim McFeeley and Rafa Escobedo led the search.
