President and Chief Executive Officer Zoo New England | Boston and Stoneham, Massachusetts Zoo New England has announced the appointment of Stephanie Brinley as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 29, 2025. Brinley currently serves as Deputy Director of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, where she oversees operations across two campuses and global conservation sites. In her new role, she will lead Zoo New England, which includes both Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and Stone Zoo in Stoneham.Brinley brings extensive leadership experience in conservation, operations, and strategic planning. At the Smithsonian, she provided executive direction for the planning, development, and management of programs, embedding a strategic focus on species survival into exhibits and outreach. Her career also includes senior roles at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Department of Defense. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, she holds a Master’s degree from Troy State University. “I am truly honored and excited to be selected as the next President and CEO of Zoo New England,” said Brinley. “I’m inspired by the incredible work already underway to connect visitors with wildlife, sparking curiosity, joy, and a lifelong respect for nature.
