Chair, Department of Global and Environmental Health New York University, School of Global Public Health | New York, New York We are pleased to announce that Dr. Mark Jit has been named the inaugural Chair of the Department of Global and Environmental Health at Dell Medical School at New York University, School of Global Public Health, as of August 15, 2024.Previously, Dr. Jit was Professor and Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Dynamics at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where he also co-directed the Global Health Economics Centre. He has an Honorary Professorship at the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong. He received his BSc and PhD in Mathematics from University College London, specializing in mathematical biology, and a Master of Public Health degree from King’s College London. He was elected in 2023 as a Fellow at the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, which recognized his work on advancing vaccine equity. He is currently co-chair for The Lancet Commission for Strengthening the Use of Epidemiological Modelling of Emerging and Pandemic Infectious Diseases. In 2022 and 2023, he was recognized as a highly cited researcher by Clarivate.Dr. Jit’s dedication to informing global policy stems from a profound commitment to advancing justice within the realm of global health. He is the author of more than 380 peer-reviewed journal articles and has received support for his work from UK research councils, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, the World Health Organization, Gavi, and the European Commission.
