Vijay Saraswat

A photo of a person.

Vijay has built expertise across a wide range of higher education searches since joining Isaacson, Miller (IM) in 2012. He has played a key role in IM’s STEM practice, solving complex leadership placements across a range of tier one, public and private research institutions nationwide, including landmark recruitments for the Founding Directors of the Institute for Quantitative Health Sciences and Engineering at Michigan State University and the Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact at the University of Oregon, among many others. He has worked across engineering, natural and physical sciences, and health sciences, in both academic leadership settings as well as in functional roles in the translational sciences, with a deep understanding of—and dedication to—the broad socioeconomic impact that research institutions can have on people and place. Other searches include center directors, chairs, deans of sciences and engineering, vice presidents for research, and campus and system presidents.

Prior to joining IM, Vijay was an active-duty U.S. Marine Sergeant in the intelligence field, earning an honorable discharge in 2009 following five years of service, including two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. At Tufts University, he researched and wrote about post-conflict political reconciliation and economic reconstruction in Iraq and worked with the U.S. Army War College's Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute.

He is a past board member of the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center and a former Big Brother for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay.
