University Hospitals (UH) has named Samudragupta Bora, PhD, as the inaugural Director of the Center for Health Services Research.

Bora currently serves as Director of Early Childhood Neurodevelopmental Outcomes at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and is the founding program director of UH Research & Education Institute’s Certificate in Foundations of Health Services Research. Prior to UH, Bora was a group leader and Associate Professor at Mater Research Institute, a hospital-based research institute within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Bora is internationally recognized for his research on neurodevelopmental outcomes of high-risk infants, which has been funded in his role as principal or co-investigator by several federal and foundation grants. His research aims to improve the early identification of infants at risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes, with a focus on risk and resilience using the social determinants of health framework. He is the immediate-past Chair of the Long-Term Outcomes of High-Risk Babies Subcommittee of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Bora earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with honors from the University of Delhi, India, and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Canterbury, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School.
