David Livingston | Vice President for Development

The University of Texas at Austin, Vice President for Development

The University of Texas at Austin (UT) announced the appointment of David Livingston ’97 to the role of Vice President for Development. Following a competitive and national search process, Livingston emerged as the successful candidate to outline a bold vision for continued growth and excellence in Texas Development, serve as a member of the president’s senior leadership team, and steer UT’s What Starts Here $6 billion campaign to a successful conclusion.

A proud and passionate Longhorn, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President for Development, Livingston believes firmly in President Jay Hartzell’s vision to make UT the highest-impact public research university in the world. Since joining UT in 2003, Livingston has demonstrated a deep commitment to building the vision, infrastructure, and culture within Texas Development that will harness the passion of UT’s alumni and supporters.

During his two decades at UT, Livingston has held progressive roles at the university, college, and school levels, and has been a critical contributor to Texas Development’s growth by building fundraising teams across campus. Over the course of his tenure, Livingston has dedicated much of his time ensuring a positive culture for the development team, in which all employees can thrive and succeed, and he has been the lead relationship manager and gift strategist for some of UT’s largest gifts during the campaign and beyond.

Said President Hartzell of Livingston’s appointment, “As we look to the future, I am excited and inspired by David’s approach to further elevate all that we do. Through the creation of transformational gift strategies to secure more investments of $100 million and above, an enhanced focus on health and science philanthropy, and building a more robust alumni relations program, I am confident David will propel our work that will go on to change the world.”

Rachel Ellenport led this search with Nicole Poe and Megan Gorman.
