In a typical year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has over 6.5 million onsite visitors and, since March 2020, has seen over 10 million online visitors to our virtual, hybrid, and in-person programs and experiences. This leader will engage with both local, and global contexts in new and exciting ways in the next chapter for the Education Department, guided by The Met’s overall Vision 2025.The ideal candidate is a skilled and experienced Education leader who will serve as a key programmatic partner to stakeholders within the Education Department, across the museum, and with local and global communities. The Educator in Charge will oversee Teaching and Learning programs and initiatives, including program development for collections, special exhibitions, festivals, and special projects. Charged with implementing the expansion and enhancement of the Teaching and Learning Programs, the Educator in Charge will play a key role in audience engagement; promote cross-disciplinary learning and cross-cultural understanding through in-person, virtual, and digital interactive experiences; and conceive, develop, and cultivate collaborations and partnerships with local, national, and global communities and organizations to develop sustainable relationships, dynamic collaborations, and interdisciplinary approaches that promote accessible, equitable, and inclusive experiences for all audiences, new and existing.Sarah James is leading this search with Hannah Moore.
