President The New School | New York, New York The New School seeks an experienced, forward-looking leader to serve as its next President. Established in 1919, The New School is a creative, innovative, and inclusive university located in the heart of New York City’s Greenwich Village. The New School’s next president will be entrepreneurial, student-centric, and able to lead an evolving university. The New School is made up of six distinctive colleges. Parsons School of Design, The New School for Social Research, Eugene Lang College, The College of Performing Arts, The Schools of Public Engagement, and Parsons Paris, in addition to a wide range of institutes and centers, have ground-breaking scholarly and creative impact on the world. The university’s strengths in the arts, humanities, and social research offer unparalleled opportunities for transdisciplinary teaching and learning.The New School enrolls over 12,400 students, is home to over 2,000 faculty, and employs approximately 1,000 staff. The student body is diverse, and the university is consistently ranked as one of the most international universities, with 38 percent of its students being foreign nationals. The faculty of The New School includes Pulitzer Prize and Grammy winners, MacArthur Genius grant recipients, and winners of the Guggenheim and Avery Fisher Prizes. The dedicated staff includes many New School alumni or currently enrolled graduate students. The New School offers 143 degree and diploma programs. Additionally, in keeping with its original mission, the University offers many certificate programs and hundreds of continuing education courses. In recent years, The New School has developed interdisciplinary undergraduate degree programs such as environmental studies, journalism and design, and urban studies, enabling students to take advantage of the faculty and curricular offerings across the university while also building intellectual connections among the different colleges.The New School’s next President will have a record of successful leadership in a complex university or comparable environment. They will be a proponent of transdisciplinary education and will help make unique pathways more visible, viable, and accessible.
