Vice President for Development Dartmouth College | Hanover, New Hampshire Dartmouth College is pleased to announce Matt Rizzo’s promotion to vice president for development, effective September 1, 2023. Rizzo has been serving in the interim role since March 2023, and emerged as the successful candidate to take on the permanent assignment. In this role, Rizzo will continue to provide leadership for major components of Dartmouth’s development organization, including oversight of the long-term philanthropic relationships of close to 2,000 Dartmouth families. Rizzo joined Dartmouth College in 2020 as vice president for principal gifts and presidential initiatives and helped the team deliver strong contributions in the final two years of The Call to Lead campaign. He also helped to manage the major gifts program in Dartmouth’s international markets and worked in close partnership with peers at the Geisel School of Medicine, Thayer School of Engineering, and Tuck School of Business. Since joining Dartmouth, Rizzo has been an impactful contributor to the Advancement Senior Leadership Team, bringing his experience from prior leadership roles at Bennington College and Brown University where he served as vice president for institutional advancement and associate vice president for development, respectively. As vice president for development, Rizzo will provide strategic oversight to key components of Dartmouth’s development program, including the Dartmouth College Fund, major and regional giving programs, gift planning, corporate and foundation support, and academic coordination, with the goal of inspiring new levels of volunteerism and philanthropic support from the global Dartmouth community. Rizzo will also work in close coordination with the advancement leaders at the professional and graduate schools, as well as the Presidential Initiative and Principal Gifts team.
