Senior Executive Director, University Development Harvard University | Cambridge, Massachusetts Harvard University is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Gotfredson to the role of senior executive director of development in the university development office (UDO), effective September 5, 2023. Anne’s appointment is the result of a nationwide search attracting robust interest of exciting candidates from across the country, representing a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives. Anne is the first to fill this newly created fundraising management position whose purview includes international, priorities & initiatives, planned giving, and foundations. Leveraging the expertise of these teams and their leaders, this new position will emphasize activities that add value to university-wide fundraising impact, through direct solicitations as well as partnership and support. In this work, Anne will also partner closely with UDO principal gifts. Anne has 18 years of Harvard development experience in progressively expanding fundraising roles. She currently serves as senior managing director of principal and major gifts and grants at Harvard Medical School. She is responsible for managing members of the team as well as personally fundraising from individuals and foundations for research and education initiatives. Additionally, she manages the Board of Fellows, an external advisory group of top HMS donors and volunteers. Prior to joining HMS, Anne spent ten years in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) at Harvard, primarily in and then leading the Academic and Development Coordination department, where she navigated the intersection between prospect strategy, academic planning, and gift policy and procedures. Anne earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University and a master’s in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
