Vice President, People & Culture The Morton Arboretum | Lisle, Illinois We are pleased to announce the appointment of Norissa Bailey as the inaugural Vice President of People and Culture at The Morton Arboretum. Bailey assumed her new role on January 16, 2024. Bailey brings more than 20 years of experience dedicated to fostering inclusive cultures aligned with the mission and values of the organizations she serves. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, Bailey has worked in a wide range of HR functions. In 2022, Crain's Chicago Business recognized Bailey as one of the notable executives in HR and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). She is dedicated to creating collaborative, respectful, and innovative work environments that attract and develop top talent in the industry.Bailey joins the Arboretum from the Art Institute of Chicago, where she has served as Senior Vice President for People and Culture since 2021. During her tenure at the Art Institute, she cultivated a new team, People and Culture, to improve the employee experience, advance equity work, and foster a supportive museum culture. Under her guidance, the team advanced anti-racism and equity work and prioritized building and sustaining a supportive workplace culture. Additionally, she led the museum’s efforts on inclusion and belonging, staff engagement, and performance management. Previously, Bailey worked at Navy Pier, initially as the Director of Human Resources, and then as Vice President of People and Culture. Bailey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Emory University and completed additional coursework in human resources management through Illinois Institute of Technology and the Harvard Business School’s HR Executive Connection Suite.
