Vice Dean/Vice President, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Penn Medicine | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania We are pleased to announce the appointment of Roy Hamilton, MD, MS, FANA, FAAN, as Vice Dean for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity at Penn Medicine. Dr. Hamilton will assume his new role on April 1, 2024 and will lead the Office of IDE to advance, foster, and support an environment grounded in diversity, respect, and tolerance for individuals of all backgrounds. Dr. Hamilton is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, the Vice Chair for Diversity and Inclusion for Penn Neurology, and has secondary appointments in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Psychiatry. He also directs the Laboratory for Cognition and Neural Stimulation and the Penn Brain Science, Translation, Innovation and Modulation Center. Dr. Hamilton is nationally recognized for his work in diversity, inclusion, and equity within the field of neurology and academic medicine. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Cultural Affairs and Diversity at PSOM from 2013-2022 and was the inaugural Associate Editor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the journal Neurology. Dr. Hamilton has been honored with the AAN's inaugural Changemaker Award and the American Neurological Association's Audrey S. Penn Lecture award for his work in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Hamilton obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard University and his master’s degree in Health Sciences Technology from MIT. He completed residency training in Neurology and a fellowship in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at Penn before joining the faculty in 2009.
