Dean of Libraries University of Dayton | Dayton, Ohio We are pleased to announce that from a strong pool of candidates, the University of Dayton (UD) has selected Matthew Shaw as the next dean for University Libraries, effective July 1, 2024.Shaw currently serves as dean of University Libraries at Ball State University. At Ball State, he oversees the library system that includes a main facility, architecture, science and health libraries as well as the education, music and media collection that supports Ball State's nationally-ranked Teachers College. Other collections Shaw oversees include the extensive GIS research and map collection, Archives and Special Collections, as well as the Seager Archives for the Built Environment, a large archive of architecture and design documents and drawings. He also leads Ball State's offices for copyright and scholarly communications and digital scholarship, which offer consultative, instructional, and technology services and tools to support teaching, research, and publishing. Immediately prior to this role, Shaw was the director of the Krannert Memorial Library at the University of Indianapolis. Before that, he held several roles at Ball State, including head of access services, collections development librarian, and electronic resources librarian.Shaw received his master’s in library and information sciences from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, a master’s in Executive Development and Public Service, and a bachelor’s in English from Ball State University.
