Dean University of North Carolina at Charlotte, College of Arts + Architecture | Charlotte, North Carolina We are pleased to announce that the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has selected José Gámez to serve as the Dean of the College of Arts + Architecture, effective July 1, 2024.Gámez joined the College of Arts + Architecture in 2002 as an assistant professor of architecture. He has served in multiple leadership positions, including associate dean for research and graduate programs, interim director of the David R. Ravin School of Architecture, associate director of the school, a Provost’s Faculty Fellow, and as a research fellow with UNC Charlotte’s Institute for Social Capital and Urban Institute. Gámez has a long history of professional leadership and currently serves as the second vice president of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.Gámez earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University, a Master of Architecture from the University of California Berkeley, and a PhD in architecture and urban design from the University of California at Los Angeles.You can read the full press release here.Ben Tobin led this search with Nella Young and Alaine Small.
