Director of Development Waterkeeper Alliance | New York, New York The Waterkeeper Alliance (WKA) announced the appointment of Michael E. Yerdon as the incoming director of development, effective September 5, 2023. As the primary fundraiser for WKA, Yerdon will partner with WKA’s key volunteer leadership to conceive, set, and execute development strategies in philanthropic support of WKA’s mission and impact in the global fight for clean, healthy, and abundant water.Yerdon brings over 15 years of local and regional development experience in major gifts, corporate and foundation support, volunteer management, galas, and events. Yerdon is a highly collaborative and strategic fundraising generalist with a track record of producing revenue results while simultaneously rightsizing operational components, including team management. With an early career in New York congressional campaigns under Dan Maffei, Yerdon’s passion for philanthropy and public good has coxswained his progressive fundraising trajectory in service to social service, education, and environmental conservation nonprofits such as the Hudson Guild, BELL, PENCIL, and Sheltering Arms. Most recently, as the senior director of development for the New York Restoration Project (NYRP), Yerdon led a team to revitalize the corporate philanthropy and development operations program, which increased by over 75 percent in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
